Privacy Policy

This privacy policy explains how Maren handles data when adults in the United States use the app for private prep, guided conversations, agreements, and shared memory.

Data We Collect

Maren may collect account contact information, sign-in identifiers, couple workspace records, invite status, consent choices, private prep responses, sharing permissions, live session metadata, transcripts, speaker labels, recaps, agreements, memory candidates, approved memory, subscription and purchase status, notification tokens, and basic usage events needed to operate and improve the app.

Private prep is private by default. Maren stores each partner's sharing choice so private-only content is not used in a joint session. Shared memory is not used for future coaching unless the required review and approval flow is completed.

Audio and Transcripts

During a guided voice session, Maren uses microphone audio to connect the session, distinguish speakers for that session, create transcripts, and generate review items. Maren does not create a persistent voiceprint in the launch version. Speaker labels can be uncertain and are reviewable before speaker-dependent memory is saved.

Subscriptions and Purchases

To provide and restore Maren Together access, Maren receives App Store purchase history and subscription information such as product and offer identifiers, entitlement status, trial and renewal status, expiration or revocation status, and App Store transaction identifiers. Maren and RevenueCat associate this information with the purchasing Maren account and its couple space. Maren does not receive your complete payment-card or bank-account details from Apple.

How We Use Data

We use data to create and secure accounts, run couple spaces, support partner invites, guide sessions, create recaps and agreements, provide export and deletion controls, prevent misuse, maintain service reliability with minimized structural operational records, and respond to support requests. Sensitive conversation content is not used for advertising.

Service Providers

Maren uses Convex for app data and backend functions, LiveKit for realtime audio rooms, AssemblyAI for live transcription and session-local speaker labels, OpenAI for AI generation, RevenueCat for subscription status, and Apple for sign-in, purchases, and notifications. These providers process data only as needed to provide their services to Maren.

Maren does not collect crash data or performance data.

After in-app permission, Maren sends live session audio to AssemblyAI to create transcripts and session-local speaker labels. Maren does not use AssemblyAI to create a persistent voiceprint.

For AI generation, Maren uses OpenAI. After in-app permission, Maren may send messages, private prep, session audio or transcripts, recaps, agreements, and approved memory to OpenAI to generate guidance, summaries, recap drafts, agreement drafts, and memory candidates. OpenAI is required to process this data only for Maren app functionality and to provide privacy and security protections at least comparable to Maren's commitments.

Your Choices

You can choose what private prep may guide a joint session. You can review recaps, agreements, speaker labels, and shared memory before saving. You can request export or deletion from the app's privacy controls or the support form.

Security and Retention

We use account access controls, app lock options, server-side checks, and minimized logging for sensitive content. Raw session audio is deleted after recap generation or within 24 hours. Transcripts, recaps, and approved memory remain until you delete the related session, couple space, or account, unless a shorter retention choice is available and selected. Subscription and transaction records are retained as needed to provide access, prevent fraud, resolve billing disputes, and meet legal obligations. Other account and app data is retained while needed to provide Maren and honor deletion requests.

Privacy Choices

Maren does not sell personal data and does not use collected app data for third-party advertising tracking. Privacy requests can be sent through the support form or started from in-app data controls.
